NTT Communications

NTT is a global communications company and one of the top 3 telecoms companies in the Fortune 500 ranking; we were retained to recruit a Global Marketing Operations Manager to be based in their London office.

Main challenges

TIME: With a new product launch approaching fast, combined with the recent departure of the Global Marketing Operations Manager; finding the right candidate as quickly as possible was imperative and that the successful candidate should be able to start in less than four months critical.

STAKEHOLDERS: The successful candidate would be working across a number of markets with multiple Chief Executives as key stakeholders, this would potentially create challenges when it came to arranging interviews.

Matchking services provided

The package offered was a mix of existing Matchking marketing candidates’ searches, leveraging both databases and social networking bolstered by targeted networking within our Powering H2H marketing network.

Due to time constraints, NTT ruled out a full executive search, this was left as a second option should the primary methods not succeed in delivering enough high-value candidates.

The outcome

Within 21 days, 30 candidates had been profiled, and a first interview carried out by us. As part of a deeper dive and using the role playback brief agreed with the client, we further vetted and interviewed face to face physically or via Skype resulting in a shortlist of 5 candidates.

The interviewing process would comprise a 3 stage approach, this was carefully communicated, managed and feedback appropriately is given. Of the recommended candidates all five had first interviews, 3 had second interviews and 2 reach the final stage interviews; Emma Peek was that successful candidate.
MatchKing remained very hands-on throughout the offer process and Emma started her new role last September.

Client Comment

“Tim King and his team surpassed our expectations and I have to say the level, clarity and precise nature of how they communicated with us (and by all evidence) the candidates was exceptional. Their method of capturing the business needs for this role extended the job specifications and the attention to detail in understanding exactly what we needed was valuable and used as a reference during initial interviews.

Tim had all but insisted that we interview his entire shortlist of five candidates and this was very helpful in allowing us to see a variation on qualified people in a very tight time frame.

Second and third interviews were managed very well and it was obvious all candidates had been fully briefed.

Our final selection and the offer process was handled well by Tim and was confirmed by the candidate 48 hours the following offer. As she was immediately available her induction started the following week.

It was evident throughout that Matchking understood what we needed and simply made it happen. We will have no hesitation in re-engaging Matchking in the future, we were fully informed at each stage and despite Tim going on holiday the role was filled well within the timescales.”

Client Comment

“I can highly recommend Tim as a hands-on recruiter. After finding myself in the unfortunate position of being made redundant I applied for many jobs both direct and via either recruitment websites or recruitment companies. The most positive helpful experience and attitude were from Tim. He kept me informed throughout the whole process and chased for updates even when on holiday. I had lots of less than pleasant experiences from other recruiters during my journey to finding a new suitable role. For anyone looking for a new role engages with the team at Matchking to see how they can help with your search.”
